A varied and sociable weekend full of tiny festival excursions was followed by a rather hectic Monday. We from the aua-team put the very last letters in the mail and wrote, printed, folded and packed one last time. Almost a little melancholy arose, because we have become very fond of these activities in these two weeks.

In today’s letter, our subscribers received mail from Kristina Norman from Estonia. She would have come to Bern with her production Lighter Than Woman. The piece is about care work in Italy. Ukrainian domestic workers are often employed there, when the younger generations do not want to take care of their parents. Kristina interviewed many Italian families and their employees in Bologna, the so-called badanti. In the letter from Kristina were two drawings that she made of two of these badanti. On one you can see Nataliya, who used to be a cook and sent our subscribers her favorite recipe for a Ukrainian herring salad. And on the other drawing we see Mariia, who gave us one of her poems. We were very happy about these contributions and are particularly excited to see how the herring salad will taste…
